Jeffrey M. Pecore

Jeffrey M. Pecore is a principal of Pecore & Doherty, LLC, representing individual and institutional health care providers, including hospitals and physician groups, in health care business and regulatory matters. Mr. Pecore's practice is particularly focused on federal and state anti-kickback and self-referral issues, physician and hospital contracting, practitioner group formation and integration, and innovative practice models. Mr. Pecore previously practiced with the law firms of Piper & Marbury (now, DLA Piper) and Miles & Stockbridge in Baltimore in their health care practice groups, and was Regional Counsel for the specialty hospital group of National Medical Enterprises (now Tenet Healthcare Corporation). Mr. Pecore is past Chair of the Maryland Bar Association Health Law Section and previously served on the Health Law Section Council. Mr. Pecore also is a long-time member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and has been chosen as a Maryland Super Lawyer. James F. Doherty, Jr.

James F. Doherty, Jr. is a principal in the Maryland law firm of Pecore & Doherty, LLC, focusing his practice on representation of individuals and entities in the health care industry, including individual, group and institutional health care providers and vendors. Mr. Doherty was formerly Vice President and General Counsel of New American Health, a Maryland Medicaid MCO, and served as the Senior Counsel for Integrated Services at the Johns Hopkins Health System in Baltimore, Maryland. He has practiced in-house for a Fortune 500 proprietary hospital chain and was a contributing editor at the American Health Lawyers Association in Washington, D.C. Mr. Doherty maintains a faculty appointment at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he teaches "Health Care Law & Policy". He taught the course "Legal and Ethical Issues in Health Services Management" for seventeen years at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Mr. Doherty is a Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Baltimore Medical System, a community health center in East Baltimore.
